After graduating in English Studies at the University of Córdoba, she started her Ph.D. Studies. Then, she moved to the U.S. to work as a Spanish teacher in an elementary public school in Chicago as part of the "Bilingual exchange program" sponsored by the Spanish and American Departments of Education. After two years, she returned to Spain and started working as an English teacher in Ucoidiomas, the Language Center of the University of Córdoba. Then, she was hired by the University of Córdoba as a part-time lecturer within the Department of English and German studies. For some years she handled both jobs (at Ucoidiomas and at the University of Córdoba) while finishing her thesis/dissertation. In 2008, she defended her thesis successfully and became a Doctor. After a couple of research stays at Bowdoin College and publishing several papers, she got a full-time position at the University. She is now an Associate Professor of English at the University of Córdoba and continues her teaching and research. She is involved in two educational innovation projects and has benefited from the Erasmus mobility program visiting different higher education institutions. Lately, she has published several papers on Intercultural Studies and Second Language Acquisition and is currently researching on the topic of Intercultural Communication and Cultural Studies.
