Rosalía Villa Jiménez is Associate Professor in Translation and Interpreting at Córdoba University (UCO).
She obtained her PhD (2013) at Córdoba University and completed a Master’s degree in Biomedical Translation (2014) at Jaume I University. Furthermore, she holds an MA in Specialised Translation: English/French/German-Spanish (2011) at Córdoba University, and an MA in Gender, Identity and Citizenship (2009), literary branch, at Huelva University. With her dissertation, she completed a two-year PhD Programme in English Philology (2008) by the Department of English and German Philology at Córdoba University. Finally, she possesses a Bachelor’s degree in English Philology (2004) at Córdoba University.
Currently, Rosalía Villa Jiménez teaches English and Professional English applied to Computer and Industrial Engineering in the different degrees at the Escuela Politécnica Superior de Córdoba (Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering), and Professional English: Tourism in the degree in Tourism at the Facultad de Ciencias del Trabajo. In addition to this, she has been in charge of different subjects in the degrees in English Studies, Translation and Interpreting (Faculty of Humanities), as well as in the degree in Primary Education (Faculty of Educational Sciences), and in the degree in Business and Administration (Faculty of Law, Business and Economic Sciences).
Her research interests focus on the 18th-century Literature, namely The Graveyard School, on Gothic American Literature, chiefly E. A. Poe, and on Postcolonial and Gender Literature, on Relevance Theory (RT) applied to Literary Translation and Biomedical Translation. Thanks to the latter, she collaborates with the Paediatric Research Unit at Reina Sofía Children’s Hospital, Maimónides Biomedical Research Institute of Córdoba (IMIBIC).
